Maya is 2!

Our lives have been very hectic lately so I'm just now going through the photos from Maya's 2nd birthday (she turned 2 on April 8th)!

First let me list all of her new accomplishments since I haven't updated the blog in a long time.

Maya- you can:

  • sing the ABCs and many other songs- you LOVE music.
  • count to 10 consistently and count to 20 with about 75% accuracy.
  • identify some letters
  • speak very well- in full sentences to people you're comfortable with
  • know all of your colors- you like to categorize things too- "That's blue, not orange, not green, blue."  You'll also let us know if it's a dark or light color.
  • know most of your shapes

Maya was sadly sick on her actual birthday.  I picked her up from daycare with a 103 degree temperature. She kept a high temperature for about 4 days.  Fortunately, we had her party the weekend before.  Looking at the pictures I can see that an illness was brewing (note her rosy cheeks)!

We has a small Sesame Street themed party (mainly Cookie Monster).  She seemed to have a blast and still got spoiled rotten, although there were only a few people there!  I didn't go as all out with decorations as her first birthday (because well I just don't have the time while working) but I think everything turned out cute!  Thank you Pinterest for all of the ideas.  I LOVE her Cookie Monster dress and so does she.  I ordered it from Etsy!

We served Maya's favorite foods- fruit and pizza.  Of course we had to have cupcakes too!

Maya's cousins Gianna and Alex got her this car.  She was so excited about it she climbed into it before it was built!

"Thank you Gianna for my very own car!"

"Beep, beep, I love my new car!"

Maya's our little Cookie Monster!  Dexter is trying to get some food here!

She looks sick to me in this picture.   I haven't seen many photographs of myself pregnant this pregnancy but looking at them I'm convinced of what I've felt- I'm carrying this baby very differently- it'll be interesting to see what the gender is! Any guesses?

Happy Birthday Maya Bean!  We love you so much and can't even begin to explain all the joy and love you've brought into our lives!

Springton Manor Farm

My mom and took Maya and her cousins to Springton Manor Farm to see the baby piglets and lambs!  The kids loved it and Maya and Gianna walked around the farm holding hands!  They were adorable!  Maya was a bit confused by the extra large cows.  They were not spotted and were huge, in fact, she pointed to one, called it an elephant and started making elephant noises!

I love these 2 curly-q's!

Easter 2013

We had a nice Easter and Maya seemed to enjoy her Easter egg hunts, especially once she realized there were treats inside the eggs!  She went on a hunt in our house and at G.B.'s house!  She had a blast running around with her cousins!

Maya also had fun decorating Easter eggs this year.  In fact she cried when I told her we had to stop- the girl LOVES crafts!

The artist at work!

Maya's loot!  Mimi and Granddad sent her the red Minnie Mouse dress.  The Easter bunny brought her some Sesame street doll houseish figurines and some dollhouse accessories (wagon, slide, doghouse).

"What's inside of these eggs at G.B.'s house!?"

It's really hard to get 3 toddlers to all sit still and pose for pictures!

Poor Maya woke up with a bad cold on Easter morning- note the rosy cheeks!  She still makes a cute bunny though!

Happy Easter!

Maya & "Dolly"

Maya LOVES her "Dolly."  They go everywhere together (except daycare where she only gets Dolly at nap time).  Mimi sent Dolly when Maya was just a few months old and they've been inseparable ever since.  I've since bought 2 more in fear of losing one and we rotate them to keep them evenly worn (plus one just stays at daycare).

Dave's aunt got her a cute pink tutu and white shirt for Christmas and I realized it would make her match Dolly.  Here are the matching gals!

"I love when I get to wear Mommy's jewelry."

"Mom, please, enough, you said we were coming downstairs to eat breakfast."

A Funny Conversation

Maya- "Rose had to go to time out."

Me- "Yes."

Maya- "Rose didn't listen, she had to do a time out."

Me- realizing she knows more about time out than I realized since we've never put her in it yet- I'm not opposed to it, she just hasn't done anything that extreme (yet).  "Do kids at school go to time out?"

Maya- "Yes"

Me- "Which kids go to time out?"

Maya- pointing to herself "Maya does."

Oh geez!!!  I had to hide my laughter.

I did follow up on this at school and she actually hasn't had to go to time out there.  I did let them know that I'm ok with it if she has to since we were on the subject!

Valentine's Day 2013

Happy Valentine's Day!  Maya is getting to spend the day at home with her Daddy!

Maya helped make Valentine's for her classmates and her friends.  I peeled old crayons from my classroom and stomped on them to break them up into pieces.  Maya then transferred them into a cupcake sheet with heart shapes.  We then baked them in the oven for about 15 minutes at 250 degrees.  They turned out really cute and she seemed to enjoy helping!

Glasses

Last weekend Dave decided to pick out back up glasses. Maya and I went along. As Dave tried some on, I started to play around with some for fun. Maya then said "Maya's turn."

She's also wearing Dave's winter hat, which she requested to wear rather than her own!
