Thumb sucking

Maya is starting to suck her thumb, but she hasn't quite figured out to clench the rest of her fingers so she doesn't poke herself in the eye.




I think I'm ok with thumb sucking as multiple people have told me that they make for the best babies as they can self soothe. Our pediatricians prefer it to pacifiers. However, I won't be able to take away a thumb. I guess we'll cross that bridge when we have to if she continues thumb sucking

Update:  Maya did indeed poke herself in the eye during the night, which resulted in a pediatrician trip after a night filled with tears :-(  Fortunately she just scratched her sclera and is just fine now!
