Check out Maya's Latest Trick

Check out what Maya can do. This is her with one of her favorite books- "First 100 Words."  We read it multiple times a day.  She points to it constantly while she's in the "playroom."

Hodge Podge

This blog post is a hodge podge and you get bonus points if you're reading this post as I'm not broadcasting it on Facebook (not that I broadcast them all on Facebook).  Why? - Because I gave up Facebook for Lent!  I'm hoping that it means that I will spend more time either not on an iDevice at all, or that I'll spend time catching up on the news or something worthwhile while I'm on an iDevice.  However, I'm thinking that it might ultimately lead to more game playing... I just discovered the game "Draw Something" (let me know if you'd like to play that with me) and I'm thinking that's going to ultimately be my trade... oh and, of course, I'm still on Pinterest- can't give that app up!

So basically, here are some recent pics. I should have taken pics of some of the dinners Dave and I have enjoyed together the last few weekends.  I prepared 3 courses of fondue for our Feb. pre-planned date (Christmas gift for Dave).  This weekend Dave cooked a delicious 4 course meal with steak as the main dish!  It was such a nice treat!

Here is Maya crawling around.  Doesn't Dexter look huge next to her?  He's really not much bigger than her...

Happy girl!

"Let me in!!!"

I've been making almost all of Maya's baby food and it's super easy and cost effective.  However, I think she should be transitioning to more finger foods.  I think I'll miss the days of purees.  Above is some zucchini and butternut squash!  She loves squash!

"Hmmm, do I want to eat this green thing?  Is it a puff?  If not probably not, but I'll eat it if all my puffs are gone."

Happy Valentine's Day

Happy Valentine's Day From Our Family to Yours!
Today we went into the borough to have lunch with Dave!

Maya Signs "More"

As promised, below is a video of Maya signing "more." Please note that it cannot be played on iDevices.

Maya 10 Months Old

Maya is 10 months old!  She's getting so big.  I really feel like she's grown a lot in the past 2 weeks.  She seems to be changing from an infant to a toddler right before our eyes.  She's crawling everywhere and pulling herself to standing on just about everything.  When we tell her "no" she listens about 93.75% of the time, which is great.  One of the cutest things she does right now is she crawls to us and will basically climb on top of us for a hug!  Maya is eating some finger foods at dinner now.  She really enjoys feeding herself.  Oh, and she signs "more"- I think to her it only means "more PUFFS please" but she's signing none-the-less.  She also seemed to be saying the word "more" for a few days but now she just seems to be signing it.   I'll post a video of that soon!  Another thing she started doing is pointing- she loves to point out everything!  She really loves to point at her books in her playroom.  She has figured out that no matter what mommy is doing, if she points to a book, mommy will stop and read to her!  I decided that I feel ok about being manipulated for books!

Maya and I (Amy) had a sleepover at G.B.'s (grandmom's house) this month.  Dave was out at a basketball game so we spent the afternoon and night out!  Maya had fun crawling around at her house and playing with the doll house.

Maya also got some new teeth this month!  She has 2 more fully in and one of her front teeth has broken through the gums but needs to just fully drop.  That brings her grand total up to 5.  She looked like a vampire for a while because she just had her bottom 2 middle teeth and then two side ones on the top (I thought they were her canine teeth but now I think they might be the teeth next to the front teeth).  Here's our vampire baby (it's a good thing that vampires are in style)!

Today she went to the eye doctor.  Our neighbors told us about this free program called InfantSee.  It's for infants between 6 and 12 months of age (they prefer them to be about 10 or 11 months old).  An optometrist conducts an infant friendly eye exam (complete with pupil dilation, which I wasn't expecting)
to check to see if the eyes are developing normally.  We didn't have any concerns, but I figured it couldn't hurt especially since it was free!  Maya did wonderfully!  Her eyes are great and the doctor couldn't believe how cooperative she was.  He said that he hadn't been able to be that thorough of an exam on an infant in a long time.  The optometrist around us that participates in this program just happened to be our optometrist anyway- which was nice.
